Mallory and I have recently discovered the wonder of secret receptions - an idea we developed after we discovered a cheese and crackers event in a random room of CAS. Today my professor suggested we attend a speech at the Hillel House and that's where I met the girl that bested Mal and I in reception crashing.
In Seul Hwang! She is absolutely adorable and extremely inspiring. Not really inspiring in the good samaritan way (although I am sure she is) but more like she actually cares about what goes on around campus. In a room of probably 50 people, she was the only college student there -and I can say that with absolute certainty because all the other ones were in my comparative literature class - that came for her own enjoyment. Her reasoning was something along the lines of, "I pay too much for this school to not get more out of it." That's an awesome outlook on life! Maybe this isn't as inspiring as I think it is but I'm sure there are cool things going on around BU's campus (like secret receptions) that I am missing because I just go through my school day without caring about anything but my classes and shifts at work. Maybe this weekend I'll find some cool BU event and meet a new friend there.
More about In Seul. She's from South Korea, she's double majoring in accounting and political science, and she smiles a lot. If you have met those people that have those really disarming smiles and are really good hearted in their demeanor that you just never want to make them sad, then you know In Seul's personality. She was genuinely interested in the Holocaust gallery and we spent a lot of time on the different floors learning about art.
**Side note: One of my theories on people is that they are all really awesome and wonderful. Perhaps a little too optimistic and flowery but I haven't been proven wrong yet, have I?
